Welcome to Sew Syracuse.com!

Welcome and thank you for searching and finding SewSyracuse.  It’s been seven years since I started this business after retiring from teaching Family & Consumer Sciences in the Syracuse City School District.  I also was the Education Coordinator and taught sewing at Joann in Clay.  It was there that I had the inspiration to open this small local business teaching sewing and doing custom sewing and alterations.   But Covid changed things. Although the demand is still real, I no longer offer the sewing lessons.  Another reason is working at CNY Costumes, a local theatrical costume rental business, I have little free time to offer those lessons. I’ve enjoyed sewing since the age of 9 when my very talented Aunt Edie taught me how to do it right.

I still do alterations that make your garments fit you the way they should.  I do get very busy at prom time and truthfully wedding season seems to be year-round.  It’s always good to plan your alterations at least a month ahead.  I try to accommodate last minute jobs when possible.  Pant and dress hems, buttons, and ripped seams-no job is too small.

Do you need pillows or curtains made or hemmed?  Memory pillows using loved one’s shirts and sweaters are a nice remembrance item.  I’m happy to talk with you about what you have in mind.
